EventsAsh Fun Day 2006 Saturday 22nd July 2006, saw the Ash Fun Day, organised by the Parish Council on the Ash Recreation Ground. Events got underway in the morning with the judging of the flower and vegetable competition. There was also a children's themed painting competition based on flight. This was supported by local schools and judged by Michael Gove, the Member of Parliament for Surrey Heath. The Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Angela Gunning accompanied by Councillor Nigel Manning, the Chairman of Ash Parish Council, officially opened the Fun Day.
The Radio Frimley Park Hospital Team compered the main festivities, and the D.J. s, with their humour and imaginative choice of music, did a brilliant job, of getting people to join in with the swing of things. Due to rain the first displays by the Playmakers and the Godalming School of Dance were performed in the main hall of the Ash Centre but the Mayflower Morris Dancers and a second display by the Ash Playmakers were able to perform outdoors.
Michael Gove MP presented certificates to the winners of the Art, Flower and Craft competitions.
Also present were the traditional selection of refreshments, a burger
bar, ice cream, candy floss and not forgetting, the beer tent. For
the children there were a variety of rides and games.
