Remembrance Day 2006
|
The Remembrance Day service took place on Sunday, 12th
November 2006. The parade was led by a lone piper and the union Flag was
carried by young people from the Girl Guides Association.
Members of Ash Parish Council were joined in the parade, to the War Memorial,
by other uniformed organisations, together with pupils from Ash Manor
School and members of the U3A (University of the 3rd Age).
A moving service was jointly conducted by Reverend Carol Brennand, Reverend
Rachel Hawkins, Reverend Keith Bristow and Father David Osbourne. Councillor
Nigel Manning, Chairman of the Parish Council led the wreath laying ceremony.
The North East Hampshire Area School Band provided the music and
the bugler for the Last Post and Reveille. Tim Edwards of the St.
John’s Ambulance Brigade once again, efficiently marshalled
the Parade.
Following the service the parade returned to the Ash Centre where members
of St. Peter’s Church served tea and coffee.
