Basingstoke Canal – Temporary Towpath Closure between Deepcut Bridge & Frimley Lock

Basingstoke Canal – Temporary Towpath Closure between Deepcut Bridge & Frimley Lock

The Basingstoke Canal Authority have issued the following information :

As part of the Mindenhurst Development at Deepcut, Skanska will be installing new canal steps which will improve access to the canal for pedestrians and cyclists. The site is located in the south of the development and will provide a shared pedestrian/cycle route from Deepcut Bridge Road Bridge to the towpath on the southern side of the canal. Works will start on Monday 9th November and will take 8 weeks to complete. During this time the towpath between Deepcut Bridge and Frimley Lock will be closed to the public.

Pedestrians and cyclists will need to follow the diversion routes either from Guildford Road Bridge (cyclists) or from Deepcut Bridge (pedestrians) through to Frimley lock (Lock 28) Temporary stairs will be available at Deepcut Bridge for access to the towpath towards Frimley Green for pedestrians only. The attached map shows the suggested diversion routes.
