The Basingstoke Canal Authority have issued the following Navigation Update :
The recent rainfall has topped up the canal and allowed us to now refill Deepcut and Brookwood.
This means that Deepcut and Brookwood lock flights will be ready to re-open to navigation on Monday 12 October.
This canal will then be fully back open to navigation. If you want to visit the canal then now is the time to come and enjoy the autumnal colours.
Click here for further information on the proposed winter works programme and stoppages for 2020/21.
The next stoppage will be a temporary one in Woodham lock flight in mid-November for approximately 2 weeks for us to carry out principle inspections between locks 3-6. After that Woodham flight will re-open until after Christmas when it will then be re-closed for works to locks 1-6 from early January, with the aim to re-open by Easter 2021. We are aiming to replace 2 sets of lock gates in Deepcut in December which will require a temporary closure, but this is yet to be confirmed with the manufacturer so may be subject to change.
The recently fallen trees from last week and this week have now all been cleared.
