Basingstoke Canal – Works

Basingstoke Canal – Works

The Basingstoke Canal Authority have advised that a planned inspection and follow-up works to Ash Lock are now due to start on Thursday 6th February. This will mean that Ash Lock will be closed to navigation for approximately 3 weeks from this date.

Network Rail will be carrying out some repair works to the railway bridge at Mytchett Lake. This will mean that the towpath under the bridge will be closed between the 11th – 17th February. The Navigation will be open but there is likely to be a short wait to pass under the bridge. All boats (including unpowered boats such as canoes and kayaks) should stop before the bridge and wait for the contractors to give you the all clear before passing under the bridge. No mooring will be allowed at Mytchett lake during the works.
