This event has ended

Statement from the Chairman of the Events Committee, Cllr John Tonks,  following the updated Government guidance for Remembrance Sunday.

Local Authority preparations for Remembrance Sunday was lasted updated by the government on the 5 November. Ash Parish Council Events committee has prepared the following advice having reviewed this guidance, which now succeeds the previous advise limiting the event to a maximum of 6 persons.

Please read the prepared Ash Parish Local authority preparations for Remembrance Sunday advice for Ash Parish residents and organisations. Please note that a recording of the proceedings on Sunday 8 November will be prepared and uploaded to the Ash Parish Website for Wednesday 11 November for those unable to attend.

The Remembrance Sunday event on 8 November as planned remains cancelled. This is due to current social distancing advice from the government with the support of the Royal British Legion. Residents are requested not to attend the memorial on the morning on the 8 November 2020 and are advised that there will be NO road closure of Ash Hill Road.

Local organisations who normally parade have been contacted individually. A Teams meeting arranged for Friday 6 November 6pm to discuss the final details within the Ash Parish Local authority preparations for Remembrance Sunday.

For any outstanding questions, please contact the Ash Parish Council office via email  or telephone 01252 328287. Additionally Cllr John Tonks may be contacted directly out of office hours.

As we must now consider other ways of performing the act of Remembrance, The Royal British Legion  have come up with some great suggestions. Ash Parish Council (APC) would like to ask our community to use their creativity to commemorate Remembrance Day with a poppy window display much like the rainbow display for NHS and carers. Seeing these displays will give us all time to reflect and consider those who have and continue to put their lives at risk to keep us safe.

Once finished please take a photo and email them to and APC will put them online for the whole village to see. To get us started here are some printable ideas: Single PoppyTriple Poppy, Single Poppy 2Poppy Wreath, Lest We Forget 2020
