Friary Brass Band Concert – Advance Warning

Friary Brass Band Concert – Advance Warning

The Friary Brass Band, who are now considered to be the best Brass Band in the South of England, are making a welcome return to the Ash Centre with a brand new concert.

The Concert is on Saturday 8th February 2020, and will be sponsored by the Ash and Blackwater Valley Rotary Club. All proceeds from the evening will go to Surrey Search & Rescue.

Surrey Search & Rescue is a 100% voluntary specialist search team which helps the emergency services find missing vulnerable adults and children. They are on-call 24 hours a day, with a team of 50+ people and 8 Search Dogs to respond across Surrey and surrounding areas.

They are trained to find and give first aid to anyone who is reported missing or lost and evacuate them to safety. They operate in woodland, farmland, town centres and around water, where the emergency services need help and manpower.

Over 2100 people go missing in Surrey every year. Even if a callout comes at 3am they aim to respond as quickly as possible and minimise the time that the missing person is trapped outdoors.

They are an official member of the UK’s Lowland Rescue provision, with the same role as Mountain Rescue, Coastguard Rescue and the RNLI, amongst others. They work closely with their neighbouring county teams and national Association.

They do not get any funding from the government, the police or the council. They are a charity which relies wholly on donations to purchase and maintain vital lifesaving equipment, and continue to offer the best training to their team.

Further details including how to apply for tickets will be advertised shortly.
