Friary Guildford Brass Band Concert – 2018

The Ash Centre will see the welcome return of the Friary Guildford Brass Band on Saturday 17th November 2018 at 7:00pm.

Since last playing at Ash, Friary Guildford band has continued with its busy programme of contests, concerts and other engagements. On the contesting stage it has been a very successful period with the Band retaining the London & Southern Counties regional championship title first won in 2015 and thereby qualifying for the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall for the sixth successive year. The Band were again placed twelfth out of twenty in the finals, a satisfactory result. The Band have also played at Butlins Skegness (4th) and in the Grand Shield at Blackpool (6th). The Band is currently ranked 30th in the World.

Concerts have taken them from local venues such as Guildford, Worplesdon, Godalming and Farnham as well as further afield to Ruislip, Westminster and Stroud. They also found time for some Christmas playing at The Meadows and the Hog’s Back Brewery, collecting for band funds and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust. they presented a cheque for over £1,100 to the Trust earlier this year.

During the year the Band have said goodbye to some-long standing players and have been joined by some exciting new ones, all of which has kept the band on its toes. the Band are delighted to be back playing for Ash Parish council once again.

All proceeds from this years concert will go to Aldershot Based charity Step By Step who provide support to young people going through hard times

The vision of Step By Step is;
“At Step by Step we passionately believe in supporting local young people who are going through hard times. The concert to be held at the Ash Centre, Ash Hill Road, Ash will be held on Saturday 17th November 2018 with a 6:30pm for 7:00pm start time. Tickets which are available from the Council Office are priced at £10:00 in advance or £12.00 on the door.
