Guildford Borough Council : Bring Site Closures

Guildford have recently reviewed our bring site provision and have come to a view that they are no longer needed as well as being challenging and costly to manage as they have become a source of commercial waste abuse and fly tipping. Our bring sites were introduced many years back, before we had proper recycling services at the kerbside, but we are now able to collect everything from households that we do from these sites (we even collect excess recycling from next to the bin) rendering them a duplication of services that we can no longer afford to provide. After discussion at a number of committees and sign off from the Council’s Executive, we plan to remove the banks in January 2024.

The intention is that the sites remain in place over Christmas and that we remove them from the middle of January onwards. Signage will be placed on the banks next week to begin communicating these changes with residents. The messaging will be supported by a wide range of communication streams.
