Guildford Borough Council : Cash Boost For Businesses To Help The Borough Recover From Effects Of The Pandemic

Businesses in Guildford can apply for up to £10,000 to help them recover from the economic challenges of Covid-19.

A pot of £400,000 is available to businesses in Guildford from 8 November 2021 until 31 December 2021 through the Covid Business Development Grant Scheme, part of the Additional Restrictions Grant allocation.

Councillor Tim Anderson, Lead Cllr for Resources, said: “Many local businesses are facing continued and new financial difficulty because of the impact of the global pandemic. We are here to support all our local businesses and give as much help as we can. By helping them we know we are also helping the wider community.

“We have already distributed more than £23 million in government grants and provided business rate relief to businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors. These funds have provided a lifeline to them and, as a result, residents and visitors have benefitted from the goods and services they have provided.

“The new scheme has been developed to help businesses that have been severely impacted by restrictions. The Covid Business Development Grant scheme will support activities that will help drive growth and productivity, diversify into new markets, increase sales, improve skills and create or keep jobs.”

Guildford is home to many organisations that could help your business. Our business support partners are ready to offer help to your company. You can get business advice from Enterprise M3 Growth Hub, collaborate with the University of Surrey or recruit a placement student, join business networks like Business South to meet like-minded people and share knowledge. Or you can explore national help available such as the government’s Kickstart Scheme. We share these and more on our website under the business in the main menu.

Full details are available on our Covid Business Development Grant Scheme web page – businesses should check their eligibility before applying.
