Guildford Borough Council : What Active Travel Improvements Would You Like To See?

Guildford Borough Council : What Active Travel Improvements Would You Like To See?

We are working in partnership with Surrey County Council to develop a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan in Guildford. This will help Surrey County Council decide where best to prioritise improvements over the next ten years, helping more people to walk and cycle more often.

You can use an interactive map to ‘pin’ a location and leave your comments on how you think walking or cycling could be made easier there. You can also view suggestions from other people and show your support.

Lead Councillor for Planning, Environment and Climate Change, Cllr George Potter, said: “We’re encouraging residents to have their say about the local issues or barriers in Guildford which make it difficult to walk or cycle to the places people need to get to.

“Suggestions will feed into a wider plan, which will give us access to a pipeline of funding for better active travel routes around Surrey. We want to make it easier for everyone to move around our borough without a car.

“The development of the plan is being led by Surrey County Council, with support from Guildford Borough Council. We’d like residents to make suggestions as we believe this plan will be vital to improving transport in our borough for many years to come.

“We’re proud to be supporting this scheme with a grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This valuable project will make it easier for residents to choose healthy travel options. In turn, we will have improved streets with less air pollution and take a big step towards reaching our net zero targets.”

This project has received £20,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

If you live or often visit Guildford Borough and you have ideas to share, please add your comments to the interactive map by Friday 4 August.
