Full Update: | Mytchett Pound: On New Years Day a large beech tree fell and blocked the towpath and navigation in Deepcut Cutting. Canal Rangers have cleared sufficient of the branches that the towpath is now passable, but the navigation is completely blocked to all craft. The third party owner has been requested to clear the remainder of the tree. Woking Pound – An oak tree that was being monitored near Bankside, Woking (just downstream of St John’s Locks) pending tree surgeon availability fell in the early hours of this morning. The towpath and navigation are currently blocked, but Canal Rangers are on site clearing the towpath which is expected to re-open by midday today. The navigation will remain closed to all craft until clearance can be arranged. |
