Remembrance Sunday – Service and Parade 2019
The 2019 Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade will be held on Sunday 10th November.
Councillors, uniformed and voluntary organisations will assemble at The Ash Centre car park by 10:15am to parade up Ash Hill Road to the War Memorial at 10:35am.
The Service of Remembrance will be led by the local clergy and music will be provided by the North East Hampshire Area School Band. Although the World War I Armistice, which was the agreement to end fighting, started on 11th November 1918, the official end to the War was when the Versailles treaty was signed on 28th June 1919. Therefore as in previous years we will be remembering the fallen who are listed on the War Memorial who died from 12th November 1918 until 1920 by the reading aloud of their names by pupils from Ash Manor School.
Following the Service everyone will parade back to the Ash Centre for dismissal by the Parade Marshall.
Everyone is then invited to tea and coffee which is provided by Churches Together (the majority of the supplies are donated to Churches Together specifically for Remembrance Day) in the Ash Centre following the Parade Dismissal. All proceeds from the teas and coffees are donated to the Royal British Legion.
