A Message From
Tony Stevenson – President
The Rotary Club of Ash and Blackwater have been proud to participate in many local functions and it has always been our intention to support village functions, local charities, food banks, Citizens Advice Bureau, charity shops, the Street Team, with major contributions to the Surrey Air Ambulance, RNLI and the British Heart Foundation etc. of which any of us may require some time.
Unfortunately our numbers have diminished which has made continuance difficult.
Our next and maybe final function will be the Ash Fantasia on 25 November 2017 and if our numbers prevail Christmas Street Floats on December 7, 12 and 14 will continue but only if we have the personnel, so if not it will be GOODBYE FROM US.
Rotary may well be international but you never see television adverts requesting monies, in rotary terms it also means the best kept secret in the world.
Strange as it sounds, Fleet, Hart and others have no problems with membership as many recently retired people want something else to do in their free time with many local major companies pointing in this direction.
Ash and Blackwater is probably unique as we meet twice monthly at The Ash Centre, do not wear suits, have costly meals and if we require to socialise join Aldershot, Rushmoor, Farnborough and others.
With other Rotary clubs we assist with the Donkey Derby and Music in the Park which is a major fund raising event which this year raised £75,000 for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
We as a club have enjoyed doing the Christmas Float seeing happy smiling children greeting Santa with many photographs being taken although not many of you will know we have to borrow the Christmas float.
With your help we may continue but if not thank you for your support.
President Ash and Blackwater Rotary.
