MOD REMINDS PUBLIC TO STAY SAFE AND HELP OUR ARMED FORCES TRAIN SAFELY AT ASH RANGES
Public safety is a priority for the MOD. Following a recent near miss incident during a military live firing exercise at Ash Ranges the MOD has asked us to remind local residents how to stay safe on the ranges.
Access to Ash Ranges is subject to the Aldershot and District Military Lands Byelaws 1976, and the Ash Ranges Byelaws 1983 which are displayed at major access points onto the range danger area. Please familiarise yourself with these before accessing any part of Ash Ranges.
When red flags are flying, these signify no entry and must be adhered to. In tandem, pedestrian gates are locked to keep the public and the military safe during live firing exercises.
To ensure the public stay safe and protected, the MOD is encouraging all visitors to Ash Ranges to:
• Check live firing and training times before visiting Military ranges firing notices – GOV.UK;
• Observe all safety information including red flags, fences and gates, signs and byelaws;
• Enjoy safe access by checking the local public access and permissions page: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/south-east-england-public-access-to-military-areas#ash-and-pirbright-range-danger-areas;
• Report military debris for safe disposal; don’t touch it.
Local people and visitors who are planning to visit the area are urged to make sure they follow the MOD’s guidance to keep themselves safe.
