Christmas Fantasia 2017
Christmas Fantasia 2017 took place on Saturday 25th November, at the Ash Centre and on Ash Wharf. The event was once again supported by many local businesses and organisations.
Inside the Ash Centre, visitors enjoyed stalls, attractions, games, tombolas and raffles.
Ash & District Museum Society had a special display of old photographs of Ash in bygone days.
Ash Parish Council ran a tombola and a Lucky Dip. Parish Councillors again ran the usual cake stall. All money raised will be donated to local charities.
Ash Parish Council would like to give a huge big thank you to the following, local businesses and organisations who kindly donated the various prizes for the tombola; Christmas Bakery, Fish for tackle, Geared up, K & S Hair Studio, Magic Signs, Mitchell and Partners, Nails Beauty, One Stop Stores, The RSPCA Charity Shop, Simply Play, Surrey Hearing Services, Tescos Express, The Forge Works, The Lion Brewery, Tilthams garage, Vale Furnishers.
As daylight faded, a large crowd gathered on Ash Wharf, where The Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Nigel Manning, accompanied by the Ash Vale Ensemble led the carol singing around the Christmas tree.
Snow was provided by a new snow machine which also added to the festive atmosphere.
The Ash Vale Ensemble, returned again this year to accompany the singing, conducted by Len Scott.
Just before 5.00pm Father Christmas, arrived by sleigh to switch on the Christmas tree lights. During his journey from the sleigh to the tree sweets were distributed to the children that had gathered around the tree. He was accompanied on his journey by a number of his Elfs.
After the light switching on ceremony every one was invited to return to the the Ash Centre for mince pies, kindly supplied by the Co-op Food in Wharf Road. The Mothers Union of St. Peter’s church provided tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the afternoon.
We would also like to thank The Dover Garage for their sponsorship of the Christmas Tree Lights.
Once again the Ash Christmas Fantasia was an enormous success and the Staff and Councillors of Ash Parish Council would like to say a special thank you to everyone who contributed;
