The navigation and towpath passing under Sheerwater Bridge will be closed while work to the bridge is carried out by a third party.
Effect on powered boats:
Navigation closed at Lock 6 and Sheerwater Road Bridge.
Effect on towpath users:
Barriers will be installed on the towpath on both sides of Sheerwater Road bridge, and a signed diversion route will be in place for towpath users. Users are advised to take extra care and to follow the diversion signs, which will require crossing the public highway at the traffic lights by Albert Drive.
Effect on unpowered boats e.g. canoes / kayaks /paddleboards:
Navigation closed at Lock 6 and Sheerwater Road Bridge. Portage possible but will require crossing the public highway at the traffic lights by Albert Drive. Advise using alternative section of the canal for the duration of the closure.
