Pollinator Surveys – Training sessions
If you are interested or know of any local groups or people interested in this 1.5 hour free course on Pollinator surveys run by Hampshire County Council please share and book on.
Pollinator surveys training course on Tuesday 9th April 2024 13:00 – 14:30 at Ash Green Meadows, meeting at South Lane carpark, South Lane, Ash, GU12 6NJ
Booking is essential. Please follow this link to book yourself on https://forms.office.com/e/JEMXWXA1jf.
The session will cover two surveys the “Pollinator abundance count” and the “Grassland vegetation rapid assessment”. Both of these give you an idea of abundance and diversity (one of pollinating insects and the other of grassland vegetation). When repeated on a regular basis the data is useful as it gives you a picture of whether abundance and diversity is decreasing, staying the same, or increasing over time. This can help give you an idea if your management is working. No prior experience is needed as it does not focus strongly on ID.
The Parish Pollinator Network
We have created the Parish Pollinator Network to help Parish Councils and Community Groups that would like to do more to help pollinators connect with each other across Hampshire. The network is a supportive group of organisations helping pollinators, sharing knowledge, resources, and advice. Once you join the network Hampshire Countryside Service staff can visit your organisation to help you get started or to provide specialist advice. Our resources are free, and we have funding available. Whilst the network is focused within Hampshire we would be happy to welcome attendees from Surrey to attend the above training course.
For any further information please get in touch.
Many thanks,
Karima.
