Guildford Borough Council backs Great Big Green Week 2026
Guildford Borough Council is proud to support Great Big Green Week 2026, the UK’s largest celebration of community action to help tackle climate change and protect nature.
Running from 6 June to 14 June, this year’s theme ‘Together for Good’ highlights how collective action can create greener, healthier neighbourhoods and safeguard the natural environment for future generations.
Residents, businesses and community groups across Guildford are invited to get involved in a wide range of activities designed to inspire positive environmental change.
The week culminates in one of the borough’s flagship sustainability events.
Guildford Green Day, Sunday 14 June
Guildford Green Day returns to the High Street in Guildford on Sunday 14 June, from 11am to 4pm.
It’s a free, fun day out for all the family which encourages visitors to ‘Be part of a greener Guildford’. Highlights of the day include:
- Electric vehicle showcase: step inside Stagecoach’s brand new electric bus
- Sustainable travel advice: get information on cycling, bike check-ups and repairs from Dr. Bike
- Recycling and waste reduction guidance: learn how to reduce waste and improve recycling at home
- Local food and artisan stalls: a wide range of sustainable, locally sourced produce
- Community organisations and eco-groups: offering advice, inspiration and ways to get involved
Guildford Green Day is designed to give residents simple, actionable ideas they can take home to reduce their environmental impact.
Cllr Angela Goodwin, Lead Councillor for Environment and Sustainability at Guildford Borough Council, said:
“Great Big Green Week is a brilliant opportunity for everyone in Guildford to get involved in climate action and see how small changes can make a big difference. It’s about coming together as a community to protect our environment and create a more sustainable future.
“One of the Council’s key priorities is to make Guildford a more sustainable borough and it’s vital we foster that collective spirit.
“I’d encourage residents, families and businesses to take part in the events happening across the borough and, in particular, join us at Guildford Green Day. It’s a fantastic, free day out with plenty of ideas, activities and inspiration to help you live more sustainably.”
