Guildford Borough Council’s Community Wellbeing Team helps families enjoy free circus experience
Families across Guildford were given the chance to enjoy a memorable evening at the circus thanks to Guildford Borough Council’s Community Wellbeing team and Circus Zyair.
During their visit to the borough, Circus Zyair generously donated free tickets to two performances, giving local families the opportunity to experience the excitement, colour and joy of a live circus show at no cost.
Over 150 tickets were shared, helping create special moments for families who might not otherwise have been able to attend.
Working with local Home School Link Workers, the Community Wellbeing team ensured tickets reached families who would benefit most.
A Local parent supported by the Community Wellbeing team said:
“I just wanted to send a quick email to say thank you, my children will be so happy when they find out. That wouldn’t have otherwise been possible if it wasn’t for your email, so thank you again for your kindness, I appreciate it.”
Cllr Carla Morson, Lead Councillor for Community, at Guildford Borough Council, said:
“We know opportunities like this can make a real difference to families. For some, the cost of activities and days out can be a barrier, especially during challenging times. Being able to offer experiences like this helps families create happy memories together and feel more connected to their community.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Circus Zyair for their generosity and kindness in working with us to make this possible. Partnerships like this reflect our wider commitment to being an inclusive and caring borough, where everyone can take part in community life.
“Alongside initiatives like this, we support families throughout the year with a range of free events to bring people together. These include intergenerational activities at The Hive, Playranger sessions across the borough, and seasonal events for all ages, helping make sure everyone has the chance to have fun, come together and feel included.”
Guildford Community Wellbeing team regularly works with local organisations, schools and partners to support residents and create opportunities that strengthen community wellbeing and inclusion across the borough.
