Navigation Update

Date Of Update: 14/9/2022
Title Of Update: Mytchett Pound
Type of Update:  Information/Advisory/Warning/ Directive
Area/s Affected: Mytchett Pound
Summary Of Update: Mytchett Pound will re-open to unpowered boats (Canoes. Kayaks SUP’s) as of today.
Effect on Powered Boats: None – remains closed
Effect on Towpath Users: None  – remains open
Effect on Unpowered Boats (e.g. canoes/kayaks/paddleboards): Mytchett Pound open for paddling
Full Update: With the recent rainfall we have managed to bring water levels up enough in the Mytchett Pound between Ash Lock and Deepcut lock 28 to be able to re-open this pound to unpowered boats.

Please however note that levels are still extremely low and care should be taken particularly when getting in and out of boats. Please do not wade out into the channel, only get in and out at areas that can be reached from the bank. Please stick to the deeper water areas in the centre of the channel and avoid landing on the ‘beaches’ at the sides of the Canal which are still exposed in many areas.
