Saturday 12 September saw a first for Ash Parish Council with a Picnic in the Park concert given by the Friary Guildford Brass Band.
Although the afternoon was on the chilly side over 350 people came along and enjoyed the concert.
The audience enjoyed a varied programme of music ranging from the theme from the James Bond film, “Live and Let Die, The stirring Dambusters March and a selection of music from the “Last Night of the Proms” including Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem.
The concert was held to celebrate HM Queen Elizabeth II become the longest serving monarch in British history.
During the afternoon a “bucket” collection raised nearly £250 for the Friary Guildford Brass Band.
Thanks must also go the Ash and Blackwater Valley Rotary Club who assisted the Council throughout the afternoon.
