Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of; (a) Ash Street (A323) Ash; and (b) that length of Ash Church Road (A323) Ash as extends from its junction with (A323) Ash Street to its junction with (A323) Guildford Road. Alternative Route: (1) (A323) Aldershot Road, (B3206) Shawfield Road, (B3411) Ash Hill Road, and (A323) Guildford Road; Alternative Route (2) For HGV’s Follow: (A323) Guildford Road, (A323) Aldershot Road, (A322) Aldershot Road, (A25) Dennis Roundabout, (A3) Guildford- Godalming By-Pass, (A31) Hogs Back, (A31) Runfold Diversion, (A331) Blackwater Vally Road, and (A323) Aldershot Road. This Order is required to facilitate construction and build out provisions of bus shelters, bollards and new road marking works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 4 weeks, between the hours of 7am and 7pm, within the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 17 February 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only, access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for residents and businesses and they will be required to use the signed diversion route. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
