Ash Village Fete 2016
The first ever Ash Parish Council Village Fete was held on Saturday 18th June. This new event was organised by the staff and councillors of Ash Parish Council and held at the Ash Centre and the adjacent Recreation Ground in Ash Hill Road, Ash.
The weather could have been better but it did stay dry throughout the afternoon.
The event was officially opened by the Chairman of Ash Parish Council, Councillor Nigel Manning.
The days various events got under way with the judging of the various flower, vegetable, flower arranging, baking and craft, including a photographic class, competitions.
The show class winners, together with the second and third placed entries will receive their winning certificates during the Ash in Bloom 2016 awards evening to be held in October.
This year saw for the very first time ever in Ash Ferret Racing, with various races throughout the afternoon.
The Radio Frimley Park Outside Broadcast Unit, performed a fantastic job in providing a running commentary and music throughout the afternoon, and Ash Parish Council would like to thank them accordingly.
There were many different different stalls, stands and displays representing various charities and local groups and organisations from in and around the village. These stalls included the Ash Floral Club and Ash Grange Childrens Centre, Churches Together, the RSPCA Charity Shop, the Phyllis Tuckwell Shop to name but a few.
The Churches Together stall and the Reverend Neil Lambert were kept very busy throughout the afternoon with their Pancake making, which included Pizza pancakes which were hot and spicy. Speaking of hot we must also thank Ash Grange Sure Start Children’s centre for arrange the roving circus workshop which include a fire juggler.
Other attractions included a BBQ run by the Farnborough Rotary Club and of course the beer and wine tent supplied by Ash Parish Council and operated on our behalf by members of the Ash and Blackwater Valley Rotary Club.
