Summary of update (s):
1. Mytchett Pound: Re-opened to all unpowered craft Recent rainfall has allowed water levels to be managed to facilitate an increase in the Mytchett pound. This will allow unpowered craft such as kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and all other licenced unpowered boats to use this section of the canal again. Limited boats will be available to hire on select days from the Canal Centre over half term. Existing closure to all licenced powered craft remains in place.
2. Hampshire Pound: Full navigation closure between Chequers to Poulters Bridge Chequers Bridge (Crookham Wharf) downstream to Poulters Bridge (Zephon Common Lane) will be closed to all navigation (powered and unpowered) from Crookham Wharf to 100m downstream of Poulters Bridge, Crookham, Hampshire. There will be sections of Crookham Wharf car park sectioned off during this period as a works compound, and on occasions, a full car park closure may be in place for short durations to facilitate plant and material deliveries. The canal will be closed and drained to facilitate essential planned bridge infrastructure works. From: Monday 26th October 2026Until: Wednesday 31st March 2027
3. Scotland Bridge Road Car Park: Full closure of car park facilities Full car park closure to members of the public to facilitate bank stabilisation works being carried out by Surrey County Councils Land and Property team.
Effect on powered boats:
1. Mytchett Pound: Closed 2. Hampshire Pound: Closed in highlighted section 3. Scotland Bridge Road Car Park: Navigation unaffected, but extra care required by all users through the works area at Lock 2.
Effect on towpath users:
1. Mytchett Pound: None 2. Hampshire Pound: Diversions in place around each bridge. Users advised to take additional care as it will involve crossing a public highway. 3. Scotland Bridge Road Car Park: Unaffected, but extra care required by all users through the works area at Lock 2.
Effect on unpowered boats e.g. canoes / kayaks /paddleboards:
1. Mytchett Pound: Re-opened. 2. Hampshire Pound: Closed in highlighted section. Portage not advised due to length of closure. 3. Scotland Bridge Road Car Park: Navigation unaffected, but extra care required by all users through the works area at Lock 2.
