Guildford Borough Council launches free ‘Go Green for Business’ support scheme
Guildford Borough Council has launched a new Go Green for Business support scheme in partnership with sustainability specialists GreenMark. The accreditation scheme will help small and medium-sized enterprises understand, improve and show their environmental performance.
The free pilot programme has been designed to support local businesses on their sustainability journey by providing expert guidance, practical tools and a structured framework to help reduce environmental impacts while driving business benefits.
Businesses that successfully complete the programme will achieve a recognised environmental accreditation, certified by GreenMark, demonstrating their commitment to improved sustainability.
The initiative aims to help businesses across the borough to:
• understand their environmental impacts
• take measurable steps to reduce them
• contribute towards creating a greener Guildford.
Cllr Angela Goodwin, Lead Councillor for Environment and Sustainability said:
“We know that many businesses want to reduce their environmental impact but may be unsure where to start or how to progress. Through our partnership with GreenMark, the Go Green for Business scheme provides practical support, expert guidance and a recognised accreditation to help businesses take meaningful environmental action.
“By supporting businesses to become more sustainable, we’re creating a greener and more sustainable borough for all.”
The Go Green for Business programme is designed to support businesses at any stage of their sustainability journey. Accreditation can be completed at a pace that works best for them.
Accredited businesses will also benefit from ongoing access to GreenMark environmental advisers throughout their initial 12-month membership period.
Although the deadline for applications to the programme is Monday 30 November, the pilot scheme is limited to 15 businesses, so businesses should apply early to guarantee a place.
