Christmas Fantasia 2018 – Report

Christmas Fantasia 2018 took place on Saturday 1st December, at the Ash Centre and on Ash Wharf. The event was once again sponsored by many local businesses and organisations.

Inside the Ash Centre there was the usual varied selection of stalls, attractions, games, tombolas and raffles. Ash Parish Council ran a tombola and also a raffle where all money raised will be donated to local charities.

Ash Parish Council would like to say a huge Thank You to all of the following businesses that donated various prizes for the Tombola and Raffle; Bo Wah Fish bar, Bridges Estate Agents, Christmas Bakery, Co-operative Store (Ash Street), Fish for Tackle, Headstart Barbers, K & S Hair studios, Magic Signs, Mitchell & Partners, Nails Beauty, One Stop Stores, Phyllis Tuckwell Charity Shop, Pinewood Stores, RSPCA Charity Shop, Shawfield Stores, Surrey Hearing Services, The Forge Works, The Lion Brewery, The Optical Centre, Tiltham Garage, Vale Furnishers and Vale Veterinary Practice.

As the daylight faded a large crowd gathered on Ash Wharf where the Chairman of Ash Parish Council, accompanied by the Ash Vale ensemble, led the carol singing around the Christmas tree. There was even a layer of Snow!! Just before 5:00pm Father Christmas arrived by sleigh to switch on the Christmas Tree Lights. During his journey to and from the Christmas Tree Father Christmas distributed sweets to the children who had gathered around the Wharf. Ash Parish council would like to THANK Cllr. Mrs Marsha Moseley for providing the funding for the Christmas Tree from her Surrey County Council Members Allocation. We would also like to give a very big THANK YOU to Bridges Estate Agents for providing the power for the tree lights throughout the festive period and also for providing the power for both the snow machine and sound system on 1st December, and a further thank you also to The Dover Garage for sponsoring the Christmas Tree Lights.

After the light switching on ceremony everyone was invited back to the Ash Centre for Mulled Wine and Mince Pies. The Mince Pies being provided by the Co-operative Store on Ash Wharf.

The Mothers Union also provide tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes throughout the afternoon.
