Friary Guildford Brass Band Concert – 2018
Saturday 17th November 2018 saw after a break of 3 years another fantastic concert given by the Friary Guildford Brass Band.
The concert was sponsored by the Ash and Blackwater Valley Rotary Club and all proceeds are to be donated to the local charity Step by Step. The Band was under the baton of guest conductor Melvin White and played a good variety of music in commemoration of the end of World War I. Included in the first half were, Where Eagles Sing, Mars from the Plants, Crimond and Shine as the Light. The second half kicked off with Colonel Bogey, followed by Songs of the Great War, Nimrod, Jerusalem and Pomp and Circumstance No. 1,Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines provided a very fitting encore.
Gordon Pope from Step by Step gave a very emotional account of the work undertaken by the charity and we are pleased to advise that the concert raised a total of £1,100 all of which will go to the local charity Step by Step.
