Council Statement: Annual Meeting Confirms New Chair and Vice-Chair of the Council
Following the Council’s Annual Meeting held on Monday 18th May, the Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Councillor Michael Moriarty as the new Chair of the Council, alongside the appointment of Councillor John Tonks as Vice-Chair of the Council.
Councillor Moriarty assumes the role after being formally elected by his fellow councillors, succeeding Councillor Fiona White, who has stepped down following three years of dedicated leadership and service. The Council extends its sincere thanks to Councillor White for her commitment and valued contribution during her tenure.
Councillor John Tonks was also elected as Vice-Chair, succeeding Councillor Carla Morson, and will support the Chair in carrying out the Council’s civic and community leadership responsibilities over the coming year. The Council wishes to express its appreciation to Councillor Morson for her dedication and the important contribution she made during her time in the role.
The Council looks forward to supporting Councillor Moriarty in his new role and continuing to work together to strengthen the sense of community, enhance local services, and deliver on the priorities of residents across the Parish.

Words from the New Chair of the Council
Speaking after his appointment, Councillor Moriarty said:
“It is truly an honour to have been selected for this role by my fellow councillors to take on this role, and I also wish to give thanks to Councillor Fiona White, who has stood down from the role, for her contribution and leadership of the council over the past three years.
Our biggest responsibility for us in a post-Local Government Reorganisation world will be to establish a sense of place and community for the Parish. Through the events we hold, our open spaces and allotments we operate, the charities we support, the Ash Centre, the Ash in Bloom competition, we must continue to back these and seek to grow them as well, as well as to further engage with our community groups, sports organisations and residents young and old and figure out exactly what they want out of where they live.”
Words from the New Vice-Chair of the Council
Councillor John Tonks also said:
“I’m really looking forward to supporting our new Chair and working together as a council to do the best we can for our community.”
