Please see the navigation update below.  There are a number of updates due to it being a very busy period for heavy works on the Canal.

Summary of Update:Navigation and towpath closed under Mytchett Lake Road Bridge – expected date for completion 19 March. Ash Aqueduct on going relining works – expected date for completion mid-April Horsell sluice replacement – works in channel and towpath Bankside, Woking – bank repairs; towpath closed, use local diversion Ash Lock (remains closed due to item 2) – lock gate replacement expected mid March

Effect on Towpath Users:Towpath under Mytchett Lake Road Bridge will be closed. None Barriers in place reducing towpath width – contractor may instruct pedestrians to wait during some operations. Please obey contractor’s instructions. Cyclists must slow down and give way to other users – be prepared to stop. Local towpath diversion via Bankside footpath Local towpath diversion across picnic area during lifting operations.

Full Update:We are now in the very busy period for heavy works on the Canal : New stop plank installation under Mytchett Lake Road Bridge works are ongoing. Difficulty getting the temporary dams to seal and poor condition of the towpath retaining wall have delayed the completion date by approx. 1 week. Ash Aqueduct on going relining works – we have been advised that the expected date for completion is now mid April Horsell overflow sluice will be updated with a replacement sluice. The contractor will be mainly working off a barge moored in the channel. There will be barriers seperating the towpath and worksite, and occasional plant moving over the towpath – contractor will employ lookouts during plant operations, please obey their instructions. Expected completion 31 March. Bankside, Woking – bank repairs to stem ongoing seepage. The towpath will be closed from closed at Parley Drive and just below Langham’s Lane Bridge – use local diversion by Bankside and Wyndham Close Ash Lock (remains closed due to item 2) – lock gate replacement expected mid-March
