New Play Area Opens at Harpers Recreation Ground

New Play Area Opens at Harpers Recreation Ground

Ash Parish Council is pleased to announce the opening of the new play area at Harpers Recreation Ground, providing residents and families with a modern, accessible space for recreation and play.

Investment in Local Facilities

The new playground forms part of Ash Parish Council’s wider programme of improvements to Harpers Recreation Ground. The programme is designed to enhance accessibility, improve local facilities and create a welcoming environment for residents of all ages.

The project represents an investment of £130,000 and has been funded through Section 106 contributions. These developer contributions are used to support local infrastructure and community projects arising from new housing and development in the area.

Accessible Play for Children of All Abilities

The play area has been designed with inclusivity in mind and includes modern, accessible equipment for toddlers of all abilities. It will offer opportunities for play, exercise and social interaction, supporting the creation of a vibrant community space for local families.

The opening of the playground follows several recent improvements at Harpers Recreation Ground, including:

  • resurfacing of the car park to improve visitor access;
  • a new footpath linking the car park directly to the playground;
  • a safe, surfaced route connecting the public footpath network with the A323 Guildford Road; and
  • drainage works to help improve the condition of the recreation facilities throughout the year.

Supporting Community Use

These improvements have already increased the usability of the recreation ground, which is currently hired by Ash United Youth for weekly football training sessions.

A spokesperson for Ash Parish Council said: “The Council is delighted to open the new play area at Harpers Recreation Ground. This investment will provide a safe, inclusive and enjoyable facility for children and families, while supporting the wider improvement of an important community space.”

The completion of the playground, together with the recently completed access and drainage works, represents a significant investment in Harpers Recreation Ground and reflects the Council’s continuing commitment to improving community facilities across the parish.

Ash Parish Council welcomes residents to visit and enjoy the new play area and hopes it will become a valued destination for families and children throughout the local area.
