Navigation Update

Navigation Update

Date Of Update: 2 Sept 2022
Title Of Update: Update on Crookham Deeps Embankment Works
Type of Update:  Information / Warning / Direction
Area/s Affected: Hampshire Pound
Summary Of Update: The interim repair to Crookham Deeps embankment was completed successfully last week
Effect on Powered Boats: None – boats can navigate as normal in the Hampshire Pound, keeping in mind the lower than optimum water levels at the moment.
Effect on Towpath Users: None
Effect on Unpowered Boats (e.g. canoes/kayaks/paddleboards): None
Full Update: The interim repair to Crookham Deeps embankment was completed successfully last week and since then we have conveniently had heavy rainfall which allowed us to let water levels temporarily rise to -50mm.   The leak points were then checked daily since the completion of the works and have been found to be dry. This is good news so far.   As a result we no longer need to hold water levels at -150mm due to the leak. We are now concentrating on gradually refilling Mytchett Pound before bringing Hampshire up to optimum levels. This is likely to be a long process over several months where you will note fluctuation in levels as we build up water in Hampshire and let it down into Mytchett, however all this is entirely dependent on rainfall.  Date Of Update: 8th Sept 2022
