A pollution incident has occurred at Ash LockWorks at Mytchett LakeWorks to replace footbridge at Lock 2 – Woodham
Effect on Powered Boats:
Navigation closed 50m upstream and including Ash Lock (Lock 29). No access to visitor moorings, bin and water tap at Ash Lock. Mytchett Lake works – boats can pass if giving 2 days’ notice. No movement at weekends before 8am or after 4pm. Woodham flight closed until works are cleared.
Effect on Towpath Users:
Walkers and cyclists – do not allow your dogs do not swim in this part of the canal. Anglers – do not fish within the closed off section. Diversion in place at Mytchett Lake. No access to footbridge – diversion route in place.
Effect on Unpowered Boats(e.g. canoes/kayaks/paddleboards:
Navigation blocked 50m upstream of Ash Lock but can portage around to below the bridge. At Mytchett Lake – Unpowered boats can pass under instruction from contractors. No movement at weekends before 8am or after 4pm for duration of works. Lock 2 impassable – will need to portage round.
Full Update:
Booms have been put in place to contain the incident at Ash Lock. Bank repairs underway at Mytchett Lake. Works underway to replace the footbridge at Lock 2.
